Thin Ice

Last day of 2013! While the day is not yet over, it has been a day of new experiences for everyone in the family. The kids got to run on the frozen lake and Codi requested that we build a fire on the lake. Bud and I got started, and it requires the use of a fire starter an a 20 year old flare.
In addition we were able to use the snow shovel as a makeshift sled on the ice. Eric Jr. loved it! Anika had fun too but she ran out of gas early. All in all good times.

Hot chocolate was waiting for us when we came back in courtesy of Holly and Anika.

Long Time - No Post...

Well, it has been two and a half years since my last post. Truthfully, I forgot about this blog until I went digging through my account looking for a different blog I recently started which will contain resources and recipes that we use to for Eric Jr. and his food allergies. A lot has happened in the over the last 2.5 years. Anika is almost three, Eric Jr. is already five, and Codi has been a rockstar with her yoga classes. That and I just made it through my first semester at South Middle School as Associate Principal.

Ok, so the big highlight for Christmas this year was Eric Jr. He made every family member a bracelet using his rainbow loom. The reason this was the highlight is because he was so excited to give his presents to everyone, more so than receiving gifts himself. In fact, he really wanted to give me my present several days early because he couldn't wait for me to open it. Pretty cool.

Anika has been great. She has so much energy and a zest for life. She has a very even tempered personality and is pretty good just going with the flow, as long as it's her flow. Ok, so she has strong opinions, but that runs in the family, right?! Over the past year, she has broken a bone in her foot and broken her wrist. She is a daredevil and fears pretty much nothing (except for the vacuum cleaner.

Codi and the kids had an opportunity to take a memorial trip this fall to Sanibel in memory of Gramma Reuss. Eric Jr. was upset that I wasn't with so he made a point to say that I have to be on the family vacations. Makes sense... So, that being said, future family trips will include me. (Thanks Eric Jr. for requiring my attendance on family trips - seriously!)
